Brief

During your internship with Delphine Legacy Media, you will work closely with and under our main brands such as Black Writers Weekend and African Americans on the Move Book Club. You will follow brand guidelines and create visually engaging social media posts, flyers, posters, event logos, thumbnails, carousels and other creative when necessary.

My Process

During this internship, I have closely studied and followed the brand guidelines for both Black Writer’s Weekend and AAMBC Inc. in order to create engaging content for social platforms such as Instagram and YouTube. After receiving briefs and deadlines for each post or graphic, I begin by thinking through layout, hierarchy, imagery, and call-to-action copy. One question I often ask myself is, “How can I make this post engaging for the audience while making the copy and supplied imagery work together effectively?”

As I created new types of designs, I developed a stronger workflow and improved my time management in order to meet the team’s deadlines. I also experimented with color treatment while staying within the established brand guidelines. Although both brands have different visual identities and social media styles, I had room to explore texture, mockups, illustration, and other elements that could make each post more eye-catching and dynamic.

In the work shown below, some designs prioritize a clean, direct layout with clear communication, while others lean into a book-inspired, paper-texture aesthetic that fits the brands I am working under. The team has been very open to providing feedback, and I have consistently asked questions, made revisions, and double-checked my work to ensure each piece meets or exceeds expectations.
