Brief
Research a typeface of your choice and design a booklet that explores its anatomy. Using only the characters themselves as the focal point of the design, create a visually engaging composition that highlights the selected typeface’s characteristics, anatomy, styles, and classification. Be sure to include the font designer, general background information, in-use examples, and any other relevant details.
My Process
This project began with research and experimentation. I chose KitRounded because of its soft, rounded display style and its connection to KitSans, which gave the typeface more range for both expressive layouts and readable body copy. Since the challenge was to design a booklet using only the type itself as the main visual element, I had to think about typography in a more intentional and creative way.
Throughout the process, I explored type specimen books for inspiration while making sure the final design still felt like my own. I focused on enlarged letterforms, smaller annotations, strong contrast, and a consistent palette of black, gray, and purple accents. This project pushed me to experiment with layout, color, hierarchy, and visual interest while helping me better understand how type can become the foundation of an entire design system.
